Where Do the Monthly Subs Go?
Westella & Willerby Football Club operates as a not-for-profit organisation. No individual receives a salary; the Club is run entirely by dedicated volunteers at every level. Each season, the Club aims to operate on a break-even basis and sets subscription fees solely to cover the genuine costs of providing football for all junior and senior players.
How the Payment Structure Works
We use a tiered payment system. Players or parents contribute subscriptions to their specific team, and each team subsequently forwards a portion of those funds to the Club.
How Team Funds Are Used
Teams use their share of the subscription income to cover costs such as:
Referee fees
Tournament entry fees
Footballs, cones, bibs, and other training equipment
Team activities (e.g., Christmas parties, presentation events, small seasonal gifts)
Team kit (typically sourced via sponsorship; however, where sponsorship is unavailable, teams may use their funds to purchase kit)

How Club Funds Are Used
At Club level, the Treasurer manages the sourcing, booking, and allocation of all training facilities and match day pitches, oversees affiliation with the Football Association, handles league entries, and ensures that all safeguarding and training requirements for coaches and volunteers are met.
Club funds are used to pay for:
Training facilities (Wolfreton)
Matchday pitches (St Thomas More & Hilltop)
Maintenance of pitches and surrounding areas
Line-marking equipment and paint
Electricity and water utilities
Buildings and public liability insurance
FA affiliation and personal injury insurance (per team)
League entry fees (per team)
Player registration fees
Coaching, safeguarding, first aid courses, and DBS checks for all volunteers
Starter packs for all new teams
Goals, nets, respect barriers, corner flags, and other essential equipment
Consumables such as cleaning supplies and toiletries
Additional Income
Alongside subscriptions, the Club occasionally secures grant funding, which has recently supported the purchase of new goalposts. The Club also relies on key annual fundraising events, including the Race Night, Golf Day, and Christmas Raffle. All funds raised are reinvested directly back into the Club.
We hope this provides clarity on how the Club is funded and how those funds are used. Westella & Willerby FC operates as one united Club, not a collection of separate teams. Everyone contributes—through volunteering, financial support, or both—and every contribution is vital and appreciated.
